In recent times, the Buhari led government has exposed the monumental fraud that has gone on in Government for many years. A number of public officers have been arrested and are being tried, but going through many Nigerians reaction on social media, it is worrisome that rather than demand justice and fight for the recovery of the looted funds, many Nigerians are rather concerned with mundane and somewhat unconnected issues. I will surmise the reasons for the reactions of these class of our fellow citizens as follows: 1. Tribal Sentiments Most of those quarrelling with the Government for exposing the alleged thieves are moved by their anger that the country is being run exclusively by a particular tribe. Therefore they have resolved that since they are shut out, nothing the Government does can ever be good. It doesn't matter the achievements or steps being taken to get Nigeria out of the ditch, PMB can never do right in the eyes of these persons 2. Political Affiliation It is true that PDP lost massively in the last elections. But it doesn't mean the party is dead. Infact many persons benefitted one way or the other from the PDP administration. Many of its policies were good intentions, unfortunately these policies were manipulated by individuals for their sole personal benefit. However, the PDP supporters are still very much around and will fight the present administration to the death if need be, especially since all the alleged thieves are members of their party 3. Innate corrupt tendencies of Nigerians It has been argued in the past that corruption is now in Nigerian's blood. Many of us are just out to see how we can cut our own piece of the Nigerian pie. So when we hear that someone is being punished for stealing, we are usually against it 4. National cake mentality Closely related to 3 above, is the mentality that Nigeria's wealth belongs to us individuals as against being channelled for the growth and development of the country. Therefore many Nigerians sole objective in life is to see how they can get their hands on public funds. The care little or nothing for Nigeria as a whole 5. Hatred for Buhari There also those who simply hate Buhari's guts. Not because he has hurt them in any way but simply because of his pedigree and disregard for statusquo. They see him as a dictator and a stubborn one at that. For these set of people, Buhari can never do anything right 4 Likes |

You are very correct. Your points provide an accurate picture of the situation There are some people especially from a particular tribe and section of the country who are determined to fight the anti corruption stance of the government They have miscalculated. They are dealing with a resolute, single minded man. They can lie, create propaganda stories and malign him. No one cares We should look at the bigger picture- maybe 3-6 years from now when Nigeria will start having a foundation based on hardwork, ethics and industry God bless Buhari Haters can go and die 2 Likes |

Most Nigerians are not ready for any serious war on corruption. We all want the war on corruption to be waged against corrupt people from parties, tribes and religions that are different from ours. We support our family, friends and tribe members to loot the country but shout corruption when others not related to us are involved. Until we are ready to wage maximum war on looters irrespective of party, tribal or religious affiliation, the war on corruption will remain inadequate to deter people from stealing. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

The plague of corruption isn't something that is exclusive to our politicians alone. It is something that is very common to everyone, in fact, the very nature of the average Nigerian man is corrupt. How else can you expect people not to be corrupt when the society they live in is corrupt and thrives on corruption. Nigeria is now a country where corruption is a virtue and honesty is a vice. Everybody shout at our politicians for looting when they themself are guilty of what they accuse our politicians of. How many Nigerians owe their workers salary, how many enforce ghost workers, how many sleep with girls just to give them jobs, how many give favors to those they know etc. The list is endless. For me, until we re-orientate ourselves, corruption will become our number one culture. 1 Like |
