6 New Year Resolutions We Shouldn’t Join The Crowd In Making by Jomrichy1(m): 3:22pm On Jan 01, 2016
When it gets closer to the New
Year, there is usually this frenzy
that comes with the New Year,
especially the beginning period
of a New Year. The January 1st
frenzy makes people set
unrealistic targets without plans
and discipline to achieving them.
Unfortunately, many of the
promises we make for ourselves
are broken just shortly after.
According to a stat carried on
statisticbrain.com, 45 percent of
Americans make New Year
resolutions and only about 8
percent are successful in
achieving their resolutions. This
goes on to say most resolutions
are done for the wrong motive
with the wrong motivation and
without a tangible plan to see
through it. It’s not only an
American thing; all over the
world, people are engrossed
with resolutions every new year
and yet again every new year.
As revealed by statisticbrain.com,
the top 10 New Year resolutions
for 2014 are losing weight,
getting organised, spend less
and save more, enjoy life to the
fullest, stay fit and healthy, learn
something exciting, quit
smoking, help others in their
dreams, fall in love and spend
more time with family; but it
almost goes back to the same old
story after a while.
We would soon be welcomed to
the New Year, but I’d share some
New Year resolutions you
shouldn’t necessarily join the
crowd in making.

1. TO FIND LOVE.;
People make that resolution to
find love, but this is something
that you don’t even have the
power to find, and when you are
crazed with finding love, you
might find it with the wrong
person who might end up using
you purely for selfish purposes.
Rather, love yourself because
you’d only be appreciated when
you truly appreciate yourself.

2. YOU MUST ACHIEVE…:
Everyone has what they want to
achieve over a calendar period;
but making a plan shouldn’t
necessarily come with the word
‘MUST’. If you notice, it’s now a
cliché when people say they must
achieve this and that by the New
Year; this really is putting
yourself under undue pressure
and by this depression might
step in if things don’t go as
desired.

3. YOU MUST MAKE *** AMOUNT
OF MONEY:
People set targets of making a
ridiculous amount of money
without probably a plan in
making that possible. Rather
than setting such targets, follow
your dreams, work hard, work
smart, be diligent and passionate
about what you do and the rest
would come.

4. QUIT YOUR JOB AND WAIT FOR
A DREAM JOB/CAREER:
Quitting your job isn’t a problem,
but ‘waiting’ for a dream job or
career is the problem. I’ve
probably seen or heard of a few
cases where this happens due to
the optimism that borders
around the New Year. Don’t quit
your job until you’re sure of a
new one or you have set out
plans to start up a new business.
Waiting is never a good option; it
would never pay the bills.

5. WIN AN EX:
This is another disturbing New
Year resolution; if your ex has
moved on, you should move on;
if that ex still appreciates you
then such a person would show
it and take necessary steps,
otherwise, forget that person
and move on.

6. CHANGE YOUR PARTNER:
Changing your partner is hardly
ever a realistic objective; you
don’t have dominion over your
partner and probably can’t
change that partner. The only
person that can change a person
is that person, all you can try to
do is influence that person, but
the change is still down to the
person. Changing your partner
might mean forcing a lot on that
person and that would lead a
backdrop in the relationship;
influence your partner by being
subtle and being a better partner
yourself.
You don’t necessarily need a
January 1st to make a resolution;
when it’s past that first week or
month of the new year, the
motivation begins to diminish
because it’s backed on the
wrong motivational principle.
Make every day be the New Year
resolution for you with the right
motivation and dedication —you
don’t have to set unrealistic
targets, but you need a good
plan.
