As the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta,MEND continues its offensive in guerrilla warfare codename “Hurricane Piper Alpha,” the group said in an online e-mail this morning that its fighters bombed the Abiteye Jacket 1 and 11 and Abiteye flow station operated by Chevron today.

The group claimed the latest attack took place today, Monday, June 15, 2009 at about 0200 Hrs and that explosion has triggered another massive fire outbreak that is consuming the entire facility.

The group’s spokesman, Jomo Gbomo warned FIFA in the e-mail: “We will want to use this opportunity to advice FIFA to have a re-think about Nigeria hosting the under 17 world cup tournament at this time, as the safety of international players and visitors cannot be guaranteed due to the current unrest.

“The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) can confirm that the Abiteye Jacket 1 & 11 facilities belonging to Chevron Nigeria Ltd were blown up with explosives minutes after the destruction of the Abiteye flow station at about 0200 Hrs today, Monday, June 15, 2009. Jacket 1 & 11 are currently on fire.”

At the time of the report MEND said the bombed flow station and the Chevron facilities are on fire. The groupd added that it suspects the flow station located in Delta State “must have been harbouring war criminals of the Nigerian army as they make an excellent conductor for the lightning that accompanies hurricanes.

havent I said there are non-Muslim Talibans in Nigeria?

From Muslims rioting over Nigeria hosting the Miss World competition to this one.

Nigerians should stop deceiving themselves and look at their nature and history from a new angle.

Where in this article was suicide bombing in the North referenced?

This type of misleading post should be sent to the trash can where it belongs.
