Last year December,the ‘Stop Bunchy Top’ awareness campaign was launched in Abeokuta by the Commissioner of Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Ibironke Sokefun, joined by the Executive Directors of the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) and Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS).
Former Nigerian President Olasegun Obasanjo dropped in during the event and keenly listened while @Lava Kumar, IITA Virologist and Head of the Germplasm Health Unit, talked about efforts to contain plantain bunchy top. He later asked IITA to find solutions and to not just work on prevention.
