The time has come when we need to tell ourselves the blunt truth irrespective of our diverse divide on religion tribe or political party affiliation.
There is a cancer that has eaten deep into our country and this cancer is not just peculiar to any political party but to the system and entity called Nigeria which must be treated and stopped.
Prior to the current reigning party's inception(PDP & APC) we had the military and their corruption level was so chronic that they did not only steal in billions of naira but stole in billions of dollars.Infact one of the former dictators wife was quoted as saying that even if the federal government should collect or freeze their account, that she will not be as poor as Dangote(A man who was worth over 15 billion dollars as at then) This sounds outrageous but real.Mind you the "Dasukigate" is just a fraction of that (2.1billion dollars). This shows that corruption in this country "no be today "
We must all agree and support the fight against this cancer as corruption is affecting every single person in this country in one way or the other.it has become so bad that it's even affecting the unborn children.
However, there is a controversy with the pattern of this fight against corruption. The pattern in which the DSS/EFCC are going about it,is not only dangerous to our democracy but laying a wrong precedent that will gradually fight us later.
The DSS/ EFCC now invade homes at night like commandos "kidnap" or capture a suspected corrupt person and disappears and will not release them until the deem it fit. This unlawful detention could last for weeks, or even months. It has become so worrisome that they have grown to be above the law in there display of gross impunity. Not even the pronouncements of a judge can dissuade them.
DANGERS
Prior to this period, if a police should arrest you,you could claim that you want to see your lawyer and that you are not meant to stay in detention for more than 24hours.Go and try it now or let your lawyer make sure statement and the police will tell you to your face" forget that thing, na before, no be now, that even Generals and prominent figures are held and not even a court judgement can change it."
Also in this situation the accused no matter how innocent is considered technically guilty and could be tortured at such.
Sadly is that even the judiciary are afraid to challenge this trend by either going on strike or adopting other means to protect their proffesion. This act is not only making nonsense of our democracy but insulting the Principles Of separation of power .
The government should also understand that granting bail and seizing the passport of the accused after the have presented a surety is ok.But they could also ensure that such people are well monitored just in case they are scared that they will jump bail.

Finally much as we should all agree. With the current administration's fight against corruption the execution of this drive is faulty. So therefore, corruption must be fought and everyone should support they fight, but it should be transparent enough so as not to be viewed or seen as witch hunting as this could reduce the shameful tag they corrupt criminals are to go with.As it is now, even if they are convicted alot of people will view them as political martyr which should not be.

Whoever does not support the fight against corruption is blinded by his/her sentiments and whoever does not see the impunity at which this is done is also blinded by sentiments.

Dude please I've got only one question for you which I need you to answer sincerely and in brief: much as we all want an all encompassing war against corruption, would you rather Buhari doesn't prosecute and jail anyone at all than prosecute and jail only his political enemies

It were better he implement a policy that will deny looters of further looting and prosecute none if he is afraid of prosecuting every corrupt person under previous govt.

If he prosecute his opponent and ignore or stylishly defend his supporters or affiliates, then Nigeria will be worse, as corruption will continue so long as those that are with him are protected.

All you need do is cross over as many cowards are doing now, and you won't be witch haunted.

I support that our amiable presido should be strong enough to fight corruption wholistcally or fight corruption no more.

Oga, there is no anticorruption policy criminals cannot find their around and manipulate. The only policy that has proven to be a success the world over is severely punishing crooks, making examples of them to serve as deterrent to other intending crooks.

And if you say it is better not to prosecute at all than to prosecute some, then I'd say goodluck to you.

What we simply want is that he should prosecute and jail any one found corrupt by the court of law whether opposition of friends .If the court process is a problem, there could be a policy that will allow bring about a legal arrangement that could make the process faster.

Let me give example, you have kids in your house and you found out that each time you send them a message they either give you more figures or holdback the change. Worse still they steal from your wallet.

What do you do? Severely beat the one you caught especially the one that is not your child amongst them, and use him/her as an example to tell others how they will be treated if they are caught. Or

Giving them exact amount for an item or demand for change when they come back and keep your wallet far from their reach.

The former is good but the later is better.
