Federal Government Set To Introduce Biometrics For Payment Of Ex-militants by TobyKelechi: 5:58pm On Jan 09, 2016
A source has disclosed that the Buhari administration has decided to procure the use of biometrics (i.e. finger prints) of every recipient of the Amnesty program.

The Amnesty program was introduced by former president Late Umaru Musa Yar’adua in 2009 in order to meet the problems of the militants in Niger Delta.

According to the source, the decision to get the biometrics was reached to annihilate the problem of “ghost ex-militants” whose salaries go to other individuals.

Following the series of violent protests at different banks in Warri and Port Harcourt by former militants who accused the bank of stalling payment of salaries, some of these banks have hinted on withdrawal from being a part of the amnesty program due to their inability to account for individuals who receive payment from the amnesty program.

Hopefully, the biometrics will help resolve this issue.
