you can't be able to add the domain to your wordpress for free. They will charge you. On like blogger, you can add it free and also blogger is widely used. Wordpress is mostly used if you are self hosting it yourself, not the free hosted version

I started with both versions...blogger and WordPress.

I find WordPress more easy to use for a beginner like me.
