The reason Muhammad couldn't perform miracles was simply because he was a sinner. It takes holiness to do miracles. Again,the true God would not tell His prophets to ask for sins forgiveness, He would rather tell them to avoid them.

Jesus taught the disciples the Lords prayer that included asking for forgiveness of sin when they were new in faith. Everything in the Lord's prayer was a prayer that is expected to form part of Christians' lives after maturity. After the advent of the Holy Spirit, the disciples began a life of perfection in Jesus and no need for repetition of the Lord's prayer. One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to empower man to live holy. This is why Penticostals don't recite the Prayer because a Christian is not supposed to be sinning and asking for forgiveness. A 'true' Christian commits sin inadvertently and not as a habit.

I wonder why your question in the first place. Everybody knows what sin is: it is breaking God's law. Muhammad knew what law he was breaking for which he was asking for forgiveness. Allah too was aware of what law he was breaking for telling him to ask for forgiveness.

The surprising thing is that allahh never warned him to stop sinning like the character of the true God, he would only tell him to ask for for forgiveness. So, does it mean he put his laws in place to be broken and to be forgiven?
