Resign Now, Civil Society Coalitiontells Aregbesola Over Sacked Workers In Osun by erunz(m): 12:20pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) under the aegis of Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State(CSCEO) has advised the State governor,Mr. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola to tender his resignation letter from office over illegal sacked of no fewer than 141 members of the Academic and Non-Academic Staff Union of the two Colleges of Education in the State, thereby condemning the State government action over the matter. Meanwhile, the group also disclosed that Mr. Aregbesola has directed the management of the two Polytechnics in the State to give sack letters to over 100 both academic and non- academic staff of the institutions this week, adding that the development had shown that Mr Aregbesola did not not have capability to rule the State again and he should resign honourably for visionary leader to take the mantle of State leadership. The rights group maintained that the illegal action of Mr Aregbesola confirmed the group's earlier prediction that Aregbesola had concluded arrangement to sack Nine thousand five hundred and eighty two (9,582) workers across the 30 local governments and Modakeke Area Council, Civil Service, tertiary institutions, teaching and other public service establishment of the State. It however, thrown its weight behind the on-going strike embarked upon by the medical doctors under the aegis of Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and their counterparts, Osun State Association of Medical and Dental Officers (OSAMDO),supporting the decision of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital,Osogbo, to join the ongoing strike as part of their solidarity to their colleagues in the State.Civil Service. This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the CSCEO's Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi,Alimi sulaiman, which a copy was made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Monday, vowed that the Civil Society group has prepared to resist all the anti-workers policies of Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola’s government which was absolutely contrary to the Labour Law,Labour and Allied Matter Act,workmen's Compensation Act and Locus Classicus Labour Act,urging the affected workers in the State owned tertiary institutions to remain steadfast in rejection of the obnoxious and illegal termination of their appointment by the ignoble and satanic government of Rauf Aregbesola. Comrade Sulaiman who also doubled as Executive Chairman,Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice(CHRSJ),advised the State government under Aregbesola's watch to rescind its decision by withdrawing the sack letters issued to the affected workers in the State owned tertiary institutions immediately and tendered the unreserved public apology to the affected workers, also He then urged the governor to withdraw the threaten statement of sacking of over 500 medical doctors in the service of the state government and meeting their legal home demands, adding that failure of the State government to yield to the warning against this illegal action, might lead to embarking of Statewide continuous peaceful protest to be tagged "Operation Stop Nonsense,Operation Counter Anti-Workers agenda,Operation Paid the Workers Salaries,Operation Enough is Enough,Operation Bring out bailout Fund,Operation Aregbesola Must Go and host of others". Speaking further on the development, the CSCEO boss declared that the group has ready to team up with the leadership of the affected union to champion the struggle against the State government on its current anti workers policies which should not be allowed to stand, insisting that Mr Aregbesola had shown his inability to govern the State again and he should resign immediately without further delaying. His words: “Aregbesola’s administration is deficient in honesty, deficient in honour and deficient in truth. The only thing it has in surplus is saying something and doing something else. His financial recklessness which resulted in borrowing in excess of over Four Hundred Billion naira(N400billion) which he claimed to be spent on projects which are not in the interest of the welfare of our people had left Osun people poorer. So great is his dishonesty that when he says ‘good morning’ one needs to cross-check three times before answering”. Also speaking on the educational policy of the State government, Comrade Sulaiman maintained that Aregbesola promised to build twenty-seven (27) model schools across the State with the N11.4 billion acclaimed free interest loan obtained from “SUKUK” in 2013 and the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) also released sum of N13.9billion to the State for the same purpose, stressing that the question in the lips of the right thinking citizens of the State now is that what happened to the UBEC’s fund released for the same purpose?, adding that Aregbesola had succeeded in shortchanging the good people of the State for his own selfish benefit and must be made to account for it. http://thestreetreporters.com/resign-now-civil-society-coalitiontells-aregbesola-over-sacked-workers-in-osun/ |

It's a shame Aregbesola's style of governance is being lampooned here and there. That template was APC's preferred template. Bubu is following exact route. |

I wonder what was in the minds of Osun people when this Rasc.al brought this model secondary school policy? You build one model school in all LGA of the state! Will one school per LGA effect any meaningful change in academic prospects of osun school Insstead of investing and improving. In existing schols which will spread the impact around! Rather he choose Opon Imo, and other Abracadabra policies |
