It is no longer news that the future for every sector is IT. Perhaps, IT has already launched us into the 24th Century even in 21st century. It is equally unacceptable for you as a B.SC holder or HND holder not to know how to use the various Microsoft office package in this age and time. Irrespective of one's career part, IT knowledge and skills acquisition in this digital age is very key and needed. By that I do not mean being able to Facebook. Years back, all you needed to know about to get a secretary's job position was how to use shorthand. Today, it's outdated and the question is- how many words can you type in a minute on the system? I also remember that business centres owner made good money those days but these days everything you need to learn is on the internet. Just Google It!! WOW!!

There are uncountable benefits one can get leveraging on IT. Hence, take advantage and develop yourself to the maximum capacity by acquiring relevant skills and knowledge rather than spend your whole day and little mb trying to chat up babes or guys on Facebook or on nairaland. Some ways to distinguish yourself include:

i. See Yourself as a Unique Product and Upgrade Yourself to become that person you wish to be. Get a Role Model if you have none. Seun of Nairaland can even become your role model, just a suggestion.

ii. Identify Your Specific Skills and Natural Flare - problem solving skill, team spiritedness, talking skill, writing skill, listening skill, ... this would guide you as you channel your energies. When you love what you do, you have passion and you excel because it is an area of strength and calling. Stop following the crowd because you are looking for job.

iii. Depending on your career goal, deliberately develop yourself continuously in various areas of competence - take courses online on topics ranging from project management to sales to leadership to listening skill to business development, etc. It does not cost extra money, just same MB you would use facebooking.

iv. And lastly but not the least, do not forget the world has gone digital and everything is actually going digital. Mmmn...Welcome to My World then!! Digital Marketing is largely the future for businesses that would survive the test of time. Ask Oga Seun , if you do not understand still. A wise thing to do even as you search for job or look forward to beginning your own business is to take courses on social media marketing, web designing, programming, etc. You might need them sometime in your life to be part of the 24th century men and women even in this 21st century.

Therefore, take advantage of trainings on Udemy, Yali.state.gov., stackskills.com and become a better You. Note that many would become redundant in the nearest future but the good news (or bad news depending on the value you are adding to yourself now) is that the future is here...Powered by IT!!
The quality of energy you put into your career or job would follow you into the future even when you become your own boss, never be a Mediocre. The top secret to worthwhile success remains taking your career as a business and upgrading yourself for a better you.

In Jim Rohn's Words, " Never wish life were easier, wish that you were better.''

Good Luck as You Get your Dream Job or begin Your Dream Business!!
