Articles in the press

and on the Internet have warned that underarm antiperspirants(or deodorants), which we all use to reduces our underarm sweat and keep the odour away, could result in breast cancer.

Research carried out by scientists have suggested that some of these products contain harmful ingredients, which can be absorbed through the skin pores in the arm pit, or even more easily, through cut caused by shaving.

Cancer causing ingredients in Deodorants.

Now don’t just take my word for it, I implore you to make some discoveries yourself and check behind your own antiperspirants. If it has any of these two ingredients, “aluminium salt” and or “zirconium” then you know you or your loved ones are in the danger zone and ought to do something about it.

How does Zirconium and Aluminium salt cause cancer?

Here is the million dollar question so pay attention. When these deodorants are applied to the skin of the arm pit they are there to fulfil only two purposes: make you smell nice and stop you from sweating. Now the making you smell nice part isn’t the problem, but the how it stops you from sweating.

Antiperspirants work by clogging, closing, or blocking the pores that release sweat under your arms — with the active ingredient being aluminum. Not only does this block one of your body’s routes for detoxification (releasing toxins via your underarm sweat), but it raises concerns about where these metals are going once you roll them (or spray them) on.

And since the sweat (which is obviously waste product) remains trapped within the body, because they are camped near the mammary glands, it becomes easy to disrupt hormones in the breast. Imagine trying to hold urine for an entire day in your bladder. Now imagine holding small quantities of urine every day in your bladder. That’s exactly how you hold the urea from your sweat up there each time you apply your roll-on and block those pores every day.

What deodorant then should I use?

Now I mentioned that “some” of our deodorants have the tendency to cause this, not all. The important question to take home is “How do I know what Deodorants to buy?” because certainly, you can’t go out there all sweaty and smelly. Any deodorant that doesn’t contain aluminium or zirconium is recommended for use. So make sure you read the ingredients very well. If you need a direct recommendation, I would suggest you go for the Forever living Ever Shield deodorant stick.
