Anambra Central: I Don’t Want APC Ticket On Platter Of Gold, Says Ekwunife

The senator representing Anambra Central, whose election was recently nullified by the court of appeal, Uche Ekwunife, has declared readiness to submit herself to the primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the fresh elections ordered by the court.

Ekwunife, who was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, until just over a week ago, said she did not defect to the APC with the expectations of picking the party’s ticket on a platter of gold.

Speaking in an interview with journalists in Awka, Ekwunife said she wants the APC hierarchy to organize a primary for all the aspirants interested in the seat and she will support whoever wins the ticket if she did not get it.

The sacked senator, who alleged that she was a victim of circumstances because the Appeal Court agreed that she beat Chief Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) but quashed her election based on invalid nomination by the PDP, boasted that she would defeat her opponent again, if she emerges the APC senatorial candidate.

On her chances in APC, Ekwunife, who boasted that she has a formidable structure to realize her ambition, said her chances are bright.

“I went through the APC manifesto and constitution. Once you are a member, you have same rights and privileges as old members. The only difference is that you are not an executive member. Remember, in Benue, Governor Ortom ran the primary in PDP. He was running for the Senate in PDP. When it became impossible, he defected to the APC, got the ticket, ran the election and won. What should be paramount for any political party is the capacity and capability of a candidate to deliver. I am very hopeful and certain of winning. Irrespective of our political affiliations and religious background, we are not foreigners. Anambra Central voters know us and our antecedents. I am very confident that I will win the seat back”, she said.

I believe it is ALSO in the interest of the APC to allow Ekwunife run on its platform.

In the East, the APC is seen as a pariah and with Ekwunife running under the APC, it will reduce the bad blood and create an in-road to the Party in Anambra State.

Agreed, Ekwunife an co have earlier demarketed the APC and her sojourn with the APC will help expose the hypocrisy of politicians and even if she doesn't win, APC will gain public acceptance.

If the APC doesn't present her, truth be told, it can NEVER win the election. If the "all powerful" Ngige failed to deliver Anambra, who is Sharon Ikeazor ( or what's her name sef?)

Apc should give it to her for political reason.
On merit she doesnt deserve it. But given it to her will be very wise politically.

So the se now loves apc because of ekwunife, na wa o. Things like this makes other regions not to take se seriously especially with the public hatred shown to the apc so far

As long as she comes with the broom nothing for her. She won the last election because she was under the umbrella of the ex governor, with the broom she is on her own.

Am an APC supporter,i dont want her to win basedon the following reasons:

1. She is a political prostitute: Anybody as such is not in there for the interest of the people but their selfish interest

2. She once said APC is an islamic party: She's now looking for a soft landing among the so called Islam.

3. She denied the Igbos senate presidentship: That is the height misdeed to me.
