Congratulations bro. ACCA is very easy compared to Ican, especially F7 because if you study past questions , u already have prior knowledge on how and where the questions will come from. I hope u don't intend to use the certificate in public sector though, cos Nigeria recognises Ican and Anan. |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by haibe(m): 5:27am On Jan 18, 2016 |
AccaPack: Still the popular misconception, Acca is actually more technical, I even did a comparison of the FR of ican skill level and F7 of Acca, Fr of ican was ridiculously simple, especially the question one consolidation of 30 marks, the audit of ican skill level didn't have anything technical in it to be honest, not different from what I learnt in my university days, that of Acca was more technical, Although I found it easy.. No time to go into much details abt that yet tho.. When am done with Acca, converting to ICAN shouldn't be a problem if thats what they want.. Although am not planning on public sector. haibe:I never said Ican Sets tough questions , isn't it amazing knowing where and how questions will be set before exam? That's one thing I like about ACCA. They repeat past questions every diet, unlike Ican that shocks students. Conversion should be more easier for u though because Ican is a learner where ACCA is. |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by haibe(m): 5:58am On Jan 18, 2016 |
AccaPack: Repeat past questions? Why would they do that? You cannot compare the technical competence of Acca examiners to Ican(am not trying to say we are inferior).. But in FR for example, the way IFRS is tested is quite demanding.. Just few days ago, a new standard on Leases was issued and am sure this will be tested by June diet, ican students probably do not even know about this standard yet.. Its just a misconception bro, that Acca is easy to pass. Its not, maybe because of the financial resources involved, Acca guys perform better doesn't mean their exams are easier to pass.. Although I admit that we have better materials. 2 Likes |

haibe:IFRS 16 was issued to replace IAS 17, ACCA will surely test it in June. Read ACCA F7 past questions from 2010 till June 2015 and tell me if there was nothing in common. Repeating questions doesn't mean figures for figures, as in every diet,Cash flow, published account, group account and Ratio analysis are known to be regular questions. |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by haibe(m): 6:23am On Jan 18, 2016 |
AccaPack:Oh.. Lol.. If thats what you mean by repeat, then you are totally right.. Lol.. There are certain topics that are 80% likely to come out.. But then, and in the end, every area of the syllabus is tested in Acca, so you have to read everything, no chereypicking... That is why except in professional stage, the MCQs are there which carry two marks each (the hardest part of it all because they are tricky, time wasters are carry the most marks usually ).. Unlike Ican exams where you can still have options like 7 answer 5... In Acca, na answer all in this level ooo.. So you are right, they repeat topics in the theory part but that is peculiar mainly to f7 and f8 because of how essential those areas are... in F5 this is not the case.. |

haibe: Congrats Haibe. I received mine around 1:07am. Passed my final paper. Now an affiliate. I thank God so much for the grace He granted me. I personally think ICAN is easier compared to ACCA. I practised the Corporate Reporting paper of ICAN and to be honest, it was quite easy for me to do. ACCA tests the strength of your mental capacity...Honestly, ACCA focuses so much on the application of the knowledge acquired. So, having the knowledge without adequate application to the scenario will not get you a pass. It's all about the application and less about the knowledge. NB: this does no in any way discredit ICAN, pls. I'm still a big admirer of their exams and I intend to write it soon! 3 Likes 1 Share |

haibe:The MQCs are indeed time wasters, but some answers to section B can easily be found in Section A. ACCA is better , especially in revealing marking scheme. 1 Like |

phredbongg: Wow congratulations bro... I envy you, can't wait to be an affiliate too.. Reading for ACCA is killing, they really want to test you mental capacity and application to the extent that u have no choice than to read like a miserable person.. Unfortunately people don't know this, they think Acca is an easy ride, my last F5 paper was the hardest exam have done in my life.. Cant be Compared to what I saw in Ican's PM.. Bro how did you about P5? I have heard that paper is Overly technical.. Congratulations to us |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by haibe(m): 7:53am On Jan 18, 2016 |
AccaPack: Lol... I don't believe that statement, that it is easy to find section B answers in section A.. Since I have been interacting with Acca guys, only one person have made mention of that, that he got an hint from section A.. Nobody else, if stuffs like that happens, they are not regular at all.. I accept Acca is better in terms of revealing marking guides. |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by phredbongg(m): 7:58am On Jan 18, 2016 |
haibe: Thanks bro...God's grace saw me through. Never done an exam as brain-tasking as the ACCA! The reading is not the issue...the issue is knowing when and how to apply the knowledge gotten from the reading. Although I passed F5 in one sitting the topic I saw there prompted me to decide not to write P5. I eventually settled for P4 n P7. And voila! Here I am as an affiliate. You will become one soon. Just don't give up! |

AccaPack: Heres a friend of mine Ican skill level results.. She wrote four exams (Acca students hardly take more than 2 because of the contents of each syllabus) and according to her found them too easy than she expected.. Guess what she used Acca study packs in her PM and FR .. I think the reason most Ican students fail is because of the lack of sufficient materials but if u use Acca materials and are able to solve Acca questions, Ican will be too easy for you tbh PS: she is just an average student like me 1 Like 1 Share

haibe: If you enjoy costing techniques, variance analysis, business strategy principles then P5 will be very good for you. It's a technical paper and very difficult for students that do not prepare fully. But if u prepare adequately then only time will be what you have to concern yourself with. I liked F9 maybe cos it involved a lo of calculations so I chose P4 which is a very technical paper. Seriously, ACCA is not a stroll in the park! |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by haibe(m): 8:54am On Jan 18, 2016 |
phredbongg: I like costing techniques and all but the way some questions appear in Acca's Pm are too scary for me.. I will 'pass' abeg.. Will do P4 too when the time comes |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by AccaPack(m): 8:56am On Jan 18, 2016 |
haibe:Congrats to her. I always tell Ican students to read ACCA pack because Ican pack is too watery but most have nobody to tell them. If u read ACCA material, Ican will be so easy to pass. |

haibe:they take 2 not mainly cos of content but the money, and ICAN the more paper you take the less economical or it is for you. ACCA could be more oriented though... one thing is when ICAN peeps sit for ACCA it's a walk over for them. I have lots of pals who ran from ICAN to ACCA so far you have the cash. |

Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by haibe(m): 4:03pm On Jan 18, 2016 |
shrimati: Like seriously? Ran from ICAN to ACCA? Are u mixing Acca with Anan or something?.. A lot of my colleagues do Ican na.. And I put them through virtually everything because of the knowledge I have gathered from studying ACCA... Seems you guys don't know how Acca is oo, it makes one current and appreciate the beauty of a subject area.. To be honest, doing f8 alone, ordinary f8 makes me feel like a complete Auditor, you know what this means.. Well u may not understand if u haven't been solving questions and working on both exams, ur notion is believed by so many people in Nigeria because it is Ican they do and they probably find it hard, if they were doing Acca they would be saying something different.. At a point ehn, I was like why the hell did people lead me to do ACCA saying it is easier to pass than Ican.. One word, the irony!! |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by phredbongg(m): 5:17pm On Jan 18, 2016 |
shrimati: You are the first person that I've ever heard quote that statement; that when ICAN peeps sit for ACCA it's a walk over for them. Maybe it's true but it's got to be the exception rather than the rule. 1 Like |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by shrimati(m): 5:23pm On Jan 18, 2016 |
haibe:look lets leave sentiment aside.. If you practice ACCA past questions very well couple with the study texts you will have free ride. I used ACCA past questions for my ICAN and I did perform well. Am telling you this cos I am used to their questions. It follows certain pattern just study the pattern you will get it right. I don't believe in this mentality one course is hard or so. prepared hard you will scale thru. if you don't prep well you might end up crying in the hall. |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by shrimati(m): 5:28pm On Jan 18, 2016 |
phredbongg:have ever taken your time yo study the new ICAN syllabus? please do. If you can scale thru it, ACCA should not be a barrier. cos you can't pass them that easy without getting past questions from ACCA... which would have groomed you a great deal. Why don't you ask peeps who have done both.. I mean who are qualified...... |
Re: ACCA Students: How Was Your December Diet Results by haibe(m): 6:48pm On Jan 18, 2016 |
shrimati: But I have lots of peeps in my tutorial that arr ACA certified and still can't get through certain acca papers like P5, P7 after several trials. Even one of our lecturers that has both said ICAN is nothing close to ACCA when it comes to application, they are not even comparable.. You can do well In ican without being very technical in certain.areas but this will almost be impossible in.ACCA.. Lets not deceive ourselves because we arr Nigerias, the UK accountants and accountancy profession has gone very far ahead of Nigeria, so thinking the questions their body will set is less technical than Ican is just us being deluded.. |
