Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to a year in prison for tax evasion after a verdict was reached in his case.

The player who has been with Barcelona since 2010 has also been fined €815,000 for two counts of fiscal crimes committed in 2010 and 2011.

It is unlikely the Argentine will serve the jail time though after previously admitting to the offences and repaying the money owed and also paying an hefty fine as recompense.
