Barrister Sharon Ikeazor has emerged the All Progressives Congress(APC) candidate for the Anambra Central senatorial district elections. According to social media influencer and APC staunch member, Mr. Ayobami Oyalowo{@ayourb}, "The position of the APC screening committee was that there was only one aspirant, therefore all that was needed was an affirmation vote. The APC election committee led by Domingo Obende who was duly appointed by the party to conduct the primaries did their job. Their job was to get the duly accredited party members to affirm the position of the party which was done and concluded same day. I am pleased to inform you that the Domingo Obende led committee has now submitted their report which will be made public soon."





For those not in the know, Sharon Ikeazor was born into the family of Chief Chimezie Ikeazor SAN of Obosi, Anambra State, the founder of the Legal Aid for the Poor Scheme in Nigeria. She graduated with an LLB Hons in 1984 and called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. She has 27 years post-graduation experience as a Solicitor and Advocate and a vast knowledge and experience in the field of Business Development for foreign multinational companies, project management, banking administration, national and international Government Liaison. In her career she worked with International Oil Companies, International Consulting and Engineering Firms, and rose to become the Senior Vice President of an International Consulting Firm.




In January 2011 she joined politics in Nigeria and contested and won the post of the National Woman Leader of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). After the merger of three political parties in 2013 she emerged the Interim National Woman Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC). A firm believer in the Girl Child Education having sponsored several girls in primary, secondary and tertiary education in Nigeria, she is passionate about better opportunities for Women. She initiated the APCYF (APC Young Women’s Forum), a forum to create space for young women in her political party. She is currently the Vice President of WIPF (Women in Politics Forum) and she enjoys mentoring young female politicians.
