Dealing With Road Rage According To Islam Shaykh Muhammad Bazmool by Amoto94(m): 10:58am On Jan 23, 2016
Shaykh Muhammad Bazmool: While you are driving—and this is from the times where you need to accustom your tongue to utilizing good speech—you are driving and the other driver wrongs you. Now you have three options. First option: You can say: ‘May Allah guide you’. ‘May Allah rectify you’. ‘Perhaps you could be more careful’. ‘May Allah forgive you’. Second option: You can insult him, calling him various names. Third option: You can remain silent, not saying (kind words nor insulting him) . These are the three options. The option which the Muslim should take is the first option. If he can’t do the first option, which option should he go to next, the second or the third? He should use the third option next; which is he remains silent. The option which the Muslim should not take (is the second option). And it doesn’t matter if they can hear you or not; because by insulting them you are getting your tongue accustomed to insulting others. And it is upon you to safeguard your tongue, even if they have wronged you. Don’t add on to it. He wronged you but maybe he has an excuse, he made a mistake, maybe he wasn’t paying attention etc. If you find an evil word from your brother are there are seventy good ways you can interpret it. Interpret it in a good way and don’t interpret it in a bad way. Translated and summarized by Rasheed ibn Estes Barbee http://mtws.posthaven.com/dealing-with-road- rage-according-to-islam
