Hunger!
So much wealth but ye we wallow in abject poverty and penury. Corruption eaten deep into the very frame and foundation of a Nation meant to be great. Yet in spite of all these I still Believe that some day in not too distant time from now things will be Better.
God Bless Nigeria

There have been stampedes at junior schools in Kaduna state, since the local government introduced a free school meal for all pupils this month. It has led to a huge influx in students.
According to sources, a school in Rigasa, near Kaduna city, has had a lot of stampedes that the Red Cross workers are always at hand to treat those hurt in the rush to get food.

Could this not be as a result of overpopulation? Giving births to more than the resources of the family can support.

Hunger is one of the major reason why youths joined Boko Haram.A hungry man is indeed an angry man.Boko Haram should be granted amnesty, while the politicians who inflicted this hardship on the people by continous looting should be executed because they are worse than Boko Haram.

Good development. The free feeding programme is achieving its primary aim of getting pupils to stay in school. Those not in school will be attracted by the food. God bless El-Rufai for his foresight.
So in your own little thinking, you feel that a child you went to school because of food is going to learn anything in the school? The child is only after the food. Children in the east go to school for the love of education not for food

What are the Benefits?

A meal at school acts as a magnet to get children into the classroom. Continuing to provide a daily meal to children helps to keep them in school. The benefits of school feeding extend beyond the classroom:

Safety Nets: School meals help families to educate their children and protect their food security in times of crisis. School meals support development so children can become healthy and productive adults, breaking the cycle of hunger and poverty in the world’s most vulnerable areas.

Nutrition: In poor countries, school meals are often the only regular and nutritious meal a child receives. They are an investment in the child’s future. Without them, hunger and micronutrient deficiencies can cause irreversible damage to their growing bodies. When school meals are combined with deworming and micronutrient fortification, especially when tailored to specific nutritional needs - such as those for adolescent girls - that investment is multiplied.

Education: A daily school meal provides a strong incentive to send children to school and keep them there. It allows children to focus on their studies rather than their stomachs and helps to increase school enrollment and attendance, decrease drop-out rates, and improve cognitive abilities. Programmes can be tailored to provide take-home rations to target girls in areas where there is a gender gap.

Local Agriculture: As often as possible, food is bought locally, which benefits local farmers and the whole community while enhancing the sustainability of the programme.

The positives here is that it is bringing kids back to school. The government should provide more facilities. I hope other states join in too.

It so sad to see how our children in some parts of the country been so deprived of education.I salute the government for coming up with innovative way (free school meals) of getting the parents to let kids attend schools. The children are our future. When our youth are educated and employed they are not likely to join Boko haram and other terrorist groups
