Anxiety yesterday gripped residents of Sapele in Delta state following the arrest of a suspected Boko Haram kingpin by men of the Nigerian Army in the area
The suspect, identified as Bukar Abacha, 35 years old, was arrested hours after his arrival to the popular Hausa Quarters in Sapele metropolis, one of the densely populated cities in Delta state by officers of the 19 Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Sapele.
The suspect was also caught with list of some wanted Boko Haram members. Residents of the city however broke into fears on hearing the news.
The suspect, it was gathered hails from Borno State, one of the states to have been reddened by Boko Haram activities in the North-Eastern of the country.
A senior army officer confirmed the development to newsmen during the unveiling and sensitization programme for residents of the area list of wanted Boko Haram suspects, who are currently on the run.
The military, who pleaded not to be quoted said the suspected Boko Haram members was arrested through intelligent information from community leaders who had earlier observed the suspect’s suspicious movement within the area.
