How many water melons are here ?

The question we have here and the photo below has its history from an interview before going viral on all social medias.

The candidates at the interview kept on getting the ''No not correct, Next!'' until someone was able to come up with the right answer,, so i'll advice you pay attention, who knows it might the question to land you that dream job of yours.

First thing First, you need to know this is not a junior maths, so counting and giving a simple numeric answer wont do, it needs a more technical and logical answer.

Now the first thing to do is to count the melons in the square, now they are four halfs and would only be treated as halfs, but we can't count halfs can we ? So we'll have to add the halfs to make a whole melon, half + half = 1, remember we have 4 halfs, which will give us 2 whole melons, now to the outer melons, the melons are all missing a quater each, if put into percentage, that means each melon is at 75%, we can but count it as one, we say a quater of melon, half a melon is also accepted but how would we call a melon that is only missing 25%(a quater) ? Hmm, you guess right, it would be treated as one.

Now we have 4 melon, added with the former 2, we'll then have a total of 6melons, did you say 6, well don't be happy yet, you are not totally right, because logically, we can cut one piece of the 75% melon and add to the other three to get 3 quaters(25%), add and make full whole melons, when that is done we would have 3 full whole melons, add that to the other 2 and we would have 5melons, okay you said 5 too, right, well you are still not right, the right answer is

Technically we have 6, but logically we will have 5
