Why Uwajumogu Will Floor Achonu On The Okigwe Senate Re-run by Jimiyke(m): 7:07am On Feb 02, 2016
A stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Raymond Echerue, has said that Chief Athan Achonu, will lose the February 20th Okigwe senate rerun election, in his home local government, Ehime Mbano, due to his arrogance, failure to carry those who supported his emergence along, while in the senate and his anti-party actions against Hon Kingsley Dimaku, the PDP candidate in the concluded state Assembly elections.

This is even as the PDP leader, urged the people of the area and the entire Okigwe zone to vote en masse for the All Progressive Congress (APC), candidate, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu, saying he had the competence, credibility, capacity, capability and track record of service to lead Okigwe zone towards the path of sustainable peace and development.

In a chat with press men at Umunumo area of the local government, Chief Echeruo, a stalwart of the PDP, urged Ehime Mbano and Okigwe zonal electorates to vote against arrogant leaders who do not wish others well.
‘’Quite unfortunate is the fact that former Senator Athan Achonu, could be shameless to come back to Ehime Mbano chapter of the PDP, to ask for their support and vote, few months after he openly sabotaged the party and Hon Kinsley Dimaku, by working with the then opposition to submerge PDP, in the concluded House of Assembly elections in the area.

‘’Athan Achonu, pledged that he will carry the party along, if he wins the march 28th senatorial contest, promised to deliver the House of Assembly candidate and create jobs for party supporters; tackle poverty and empower members of our party; sponsor bills and motions that will attract development to Okigwe zone; utilize his contacts in Abuja to clinch chairmanship of juicy committees for the empowerment of Okigwe people; he also promised to be accessible.

‘’It should be noted that after seven months of Athan Achonu sojourn at the senate, none of these promises was fulfilled. I have not assessed Athan Achonu by the performance of the Owerri zonal senator, who is a former member of the Ben Uwajumogu’s led House of Assembly or that of Orlu zone, but by his record of campaign promises to his party members.

‘’ the vast majority of PDP members supported Chief Athan Achonu in 2015 because they desired the fulfilment of the promises Chief Athan made. What did Chief Athan Achonu do for Ehime Mbano people? Nothing.

‘’ I challenge Chief Athan Achonu to tell Ndi Okigwe, why he failed to fulfill his promises to the people of Ehime Mbano, despite the huge resources at his disposal? What was Hon Dimaku’s crime to warrant his opposition to his candidacy? What crime did his party members and Ehime mbano brothers commit to warrant total disconnection and neglect, to the extent that they were even lock and chase us out of his premises? What about the jobs and laws he promised?.

‘’ since it is glaring that our brother Chief Athan Achonu, has a catalogue of unfulfilled promises in Ehime Mbano and other local governments of the zone, Chief Athan Achonu should tell Ndi Okigwe why they should vote him’’ He said.
