Heyllo Sir, I do not really like commenting on people's thread especially thread like this. I wanted to keep quiet when my attention was drawn to your thread but for the sake of the risk and danger of your dettol recipe to human health I decided to comment.

Please, do not ever add carbolic acid to dettol. Carbolic acid is used in the production of disinfectant and not in antiseptic. In fact, the end product wont even look like dettol in any way. Please, try and see.

Quick lesson: While antiseptic is used on human skin to get rid of harmful bacteria, disinfectant on the other hand is used on inanimate objects to get rid of harmful bacteria, hence the difference in formulation. Also, while antiseptics can be used as disinfectant, disinfectants can not be used as antiseptic. Hope this helps though.

Quick experiment: to see why you should not add carbolic acid to your antiseptic (dettol), pour out a little of the carbolic acid into a small container and add little water to it, stir for a while then touch with your finger, tell me the result. Please rinse your finger immediately after the experiment.

Honestly, I do really appreciate your effort trying to help others, if done with no string attached or any ulterior motive.

Rubbing Alcohol (at least 91%) or ethanol This is known as (ethyl alcohol) or isopropyl alcohol 180 ml Aloe vera gel 60ml Vegetable Glycerin 30ml Essential Oil 0.5ml or 10 drops Other utensils needed include electric mixer or blender, bowls and measuring cans. procedures STEP 1 Add the aloe vera gel and the vegetable glycerin together and pour into an electric mixer. Put on the mixer to mix mildly for a few seconds. STEP 2 Add the rubbing alcohol into the mixer and mix the mixture for few more seconds. STEP 3 Add 10 drops of the essential oil into the mixer then mix the content for a few seconds. STEP 4 Turn on the mixer to mild mixer to run for two minutes to get the final product. Please use mix on the blender and not blend so that the viscosity of the product can remain intact. STEP 5 Once the mixture is ready leave it a while before pouring it into empty plastic cans/containers with dispenser cover (these are available in the market sold for N20 to N50 (100ml and above)). Congratulations your hand sanitizer is ready! In case you want to go commercial with it, design and print labels on the containers.

RAW MATERIALS NEEDED TO PRODUCE POLISH The raw materials are as stated below: Paraffin wax (Note that paraffin wax is always in tablet form. Add little quantity ) Paraffin Oil. (There are different oil in the market. The oil here referred to is a chemical used for production. It looks like groundnut oil but the scent is very different.) Dye Stuff (Oil soluble): – This is the colour you will add to your polish and it depends on your choice. Make sure you tell them you want to buy dye and not colour. Note: The dye is in powdered form but it must be oil soluble. This means that you buy the dye that will dissolve in oil (paraffin oil) and not water. Packaging materials (storage containers). EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED 1. A pot 2. A stove 3. A mixer (spoon or a straight clean stick) PRODUCTION PROCESS Light your stove and place the pot on it. Let it get hot and then put the paraffin wax in the pot. Melt it completely and then add the paraffin oil to it and stir it very well. Add your desired colour of dye to it and mix together properly. Pour the mixture into the storage container you have prepared and allow it to cool. With that you are done. your product is ready for use/sale. Please note: 1. During the production process, take little of the mixture of paraffin wax and paraffin oil before adding your dye in a small container. Let it cool and check the texture. If it is too hard or strong as it were, add paraffin oil and if it is too soft, add little paraffin until you get your desired texture. 2. The storage container should be the one you will use for selling your product. If you pour the mixture into a different container with the intention of packaging it later for sale, it will not have a smooth surface because the mixture when it’s cool will take the shape of the container.
