Probably, resisted arrest and force was applied. The guy risked his life over taking official convoy. He could have been mistaken for assassin and shot dead.

That is interesting. People can drive while their president is also on the move. In nigeria the road will be closed until he has passed.
Lesser people in power in Nigeria have the same done or worse. Heard for just following some people have been killed.
Sometimes their convoy will drive in such a way you cannot drive past them.
What is the cause this is lack of the rule of law n leaders that have too much powers. No wonder they dont want to leave power. They love living above everyone else not serving nor answerable to any one

African Leaders & oppression! No wonder ICC is always on their case. And some silly folks here on NL would be supporting them against ICC.

sankky:
That's Africa (black civilisation) for you.
And hypocrites and naysayers will hurl insults at Lord Lugard when he said these about the typical black man:

"In character and temperament, the typical African of this race-type is a happy, thriftless, excitable person. LACKING IN SELF-CONTROL, DISCIPLINE, AND FORESIGHT. Naturally courageous, and naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving weapons as an oriental loves jewelry. HIS THOUGHTS ARE CONCENTRATED ON THE EVENTS AND FEELINGS OF THE MOMENT, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future, or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to the animal world than that of the European or Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals' placidity and want of desire to rise beyond the State he has reached. Through the ages THE AFRICAN APPEARS TO HAVE EVOLVED NO ORGANIZED RELIGIOUS CREED, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural"

"HE LACKS THE POWER OF ORGANIZATION, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. HE LOVES THE DISPLAY OF POWER, but fails to realize its responsibility... he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue... In brief, the virtues and defects of this race-type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy...Perhaps the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are HIS LACK OF APPREHENSION AND HIS LACK OF ABILITY TO VISUALIZE THE FUTURE."

---Lord Frederick John Dealty Lugard, The Dual Mandate, pg.70 (1926)

Really sad and appalling. true that in most countries in the world, there are very strict guidelines regarding the convoy and route of the executive. For example in Uzbekistan, whenever the President convoy is passing through the street/road leading to the presidential palace, all houses facing the road must SHUT/CLOSE their windows till he passes through. And he passes twice/thrice daily. So imagine that!. But this dragging and assault of this man is totally uncalled for shocked

Datz disrespectful. How cn u overtake the president of ur country, no1 citizen. He deserves the beating.

Really? I thought he is a human being and he is as ordinary as you and I until he was voted to serve the people. That means we trust him enough to share our collective resources judiciously for the overall benefit of all.

You have enslaved your mind of what leadership should be. They are not Demigod but servants. If he drives so slow that he could be overtaken on the right lane. so be it. That is the driving law for which he was licenced. What happens to cautious arrest if he had broken the rule?

Oga, don't say what u don't know,

Try that in US, ur car might even be bombed sef.

That is a security risk, the security operatives will do everything humanly possible to protect the lives of number 1 and number 2 citizens of their country, and be ever ready for the collateral damages(including that man's life).

Most times in U.S or U.K roads are blocked to avoid these kind things.

For naija here, if u see governor convoy,na to enter bush with your car, talk more of a VP.

To the security aids, this man must be upto some kind of harm for him to overtake the convoy, so, he deserves whatever he got.
