Nigerians Misunderstood Apcs Change Mantra - Lai Mohammed by DJBIGGY(m): 11:06am On Feb 07, 2016
THE Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, yesterday said that Nigerians largely misunderstood the Change mantra with which his party campaigned and won the 2015 presidential election.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting with the Executive Council of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), Mohammed stated that though the party campaigned using change mantra, it has been taken by Nigerians to mean that as soon as Buhari was sworn in, the next day, things would change completely in Nigeria.

The minster maintained that Nigerians must understand that things do not happen that way because the country cannot continue to be doing things the same way and expect a different result.

“Yes, we know what the ills are; corruption, indiscipline… but it’s not restricted to people at the top. Each one of us has a role to play,” he said.

According to him, it is the reason the Buhari-led government is coming up with the ‘Change Begins with You Campaign’.

“The malaise crippling the fabric of the society today, ‘everybody is guilty,” he noted.

The Minister observed that an average Nigerian, given the slightest opportunity, would cheat, noting that corruption cuts across professions, age and gender in the country.

“Nigeria cannot adequately account for the lives that had been lost simply because some pharmacists decided to adulterate drugs. We cannot quantify how many lives we have lost because of the danfo drivers that wake up in the morning to drink paraga before hitting the road. Most of the traffic bottleneck in Nigeria today is due to indiscipline,” he said.

In moving forward, he solicited for the partnership of members of ADVAN, especially in executing some of its campaign and election promises to Nigeria, to which the President of ADVAN, Mr. David Okeme, pledged its members unalloyed support.

In his response, Okeme assured that his members would support government efforts because businesses need a great country to thrive.

“It’s in the best interest of business to ensure things are working well for the indices to be looking up,” he said.

He however, advised the government to copy some of the models being deployed by corporate businesses especially in the area of behavioral change.

Which nonsense campaign is this man talking about? Is it the campaign that will stop the spread of lassa fever? Is it the campaign that will create jobs? Is it the campaign that will bring about the much promised change?

Every Nigerian is guilty - Lai Mohammed.

All Nigerians are criminal except me - Buhari.

Ladyexcellency is neither a criminal nor am I guilty of either indiscipline or any crime.

I am only guilty of misguided interpretation of rule no. 9f of Nairaland for which I have suffered repeated ban on daily, weekly and monthly bases.

It would have made no difference. Nigerians would have still voted out the administration of the clueless buffoon regardless!

The message he is trying to pass across is simply nothing but the truth! I'm sure you and I also engage in corrupt practices on a small scale in our daily lives if we should be honest.

The message only offends the sensibilities of the unreasonable, the daft or hate filled wailers!

Can somebody drum it into the ears of Lai Mohammed to stop playing on people's intelligence? Nigerians are not expecting overnight turnaround in national outlook but can recognise a positive change when they see one.

Definitely, a positive change can never be accompanied with;

1. Increase in Electricity Tariff without steady power.

.2. Increase in price of kerosene without palliatives to the vulnerable poor masses.

3. Skyrocketing exchange rate at over N300 to a Dollar.

4. Increase in feeding allowance at the presidency from N500m to N1.7b

5. Presentation of a national budget to the NA without vetting or detailed scrutiny thereby resulting in unprecedented ignominy.

6. Disjointed or non-existent economic policy direction that scares away FDI .

7. Lack of intelligence blueprint in tackling terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery and other social menaces.

These are the issues bothering Nigerians and not necessarily been over-expectant. We are no dumbs

The youth must take over if we truly want the real change we expect

Which youths? Is it not the same youths that accepted a nepa bill for certificate? That saw no need for a presidential debate? That said they would rather elect a pig than a seating president? That recently killed innocent people in the Bayelsa elections in the name of a scam party?

Youths ko, Rogues ni.

In other news, Lai just agreed that APC scammed Nigerians. They deliberately put their change in a form that would mislead Nigerians, knowing fully well that they would not be able to meet the high expectations the campaign was 'apparently unintenionally' making.

In terms of blame game, Lai has finally blamed Nigerians. From GEJ to God to IBB to Nigerians. Who will he blame later this week?

those who are enemies are the cheerleaders of this rudderless govt. Speaking out and opposition ain't wishing our nation bad rather, it keep the govt on its toes and ultimately improves performance. Opposition is an essential ingredient of democracy. It is the incumbent that must get use to it.
