In 2006 Nigeria was not amongst the top 20, three years down the line we are number 15 - at this rate we will be number 1 in 5 years time.

America should be on that list. At the last count, it was the most indebted country in the world. If the magnitude of American indebtedness does not qualify it for failed state status then that list is meaningless. grin grin grin

You will agree that both forward movement and backward movement are movements all the same and each of them can be used to attain some desired objectives. If Nigeria's objective is to constantly move backwards irrespective of the wishes of most of her citizens which are not in tandem with that of her leaders, and the country keeps breaking her own previous records in backward movement, wouldn't you say the country is doing well in her desired direction of movement?

You mean a country where her citizens travel abroad to another man's country and steal and criminalise the country? A country where the youths know nothing but to become fraudulent and live that as a normal way of life? A country where the citizens ask what has the country dont for them and not what can dey do for the country.

Lets stop clowning about the reason 9ja is on failed state alert.
Nigeria is not there because the govt. is corruption. It is there because of the Niger Delta crisis, religious riots and other areas in which the govt. has lost control.

"Common characteristics of a failing state include a central government so weak or ineffective that it has little practical control over much of its territory; non-provision of public services; widespread corruption and criminality; refugees and involuntary movement of populations; and sharp economic decline." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Failed_state#2009 (same article)

If you think the direct reason is corruption, you are failing.

When life hands you lemons, smile and make lemonade. and when the world agrees that your country is one of the most backward in existence, rub your hands together with glee, secure in the knowledge that your "anarchy tourism" business venture will soon be fully booked with adventure seekers from the West who will  pay hard currency to visit ground zero and experience the squalor and soaring crime rate first-hand.
