New Study: Couples Who Attend Worship Services Together are Happier

A new study has revealed that couples who attend church together are happier than couples who don’t.

The Christian Post reports that the study, conducted by The Institute on Family Studies, found that 78 percent of couples who attend church together report that they are “very happy” or “extremely happy.”

Conversely, the study found that only 67 percent of couples who do not attend church reported being happy, while only 59 percent of couples in which only the wife attends church reported being happy.

“Clearly, shared attendance and his attendance are linked to higher self-reported relationship quality,” the study concluded.

The study also found that having the man in the relationship attend church greatly affected the overall happiness of the relationship, more so than when only the woman attended church services.

The reason for this is suggested that churches and other places of worship often encourage men to take care of their families.

“Our findings suggest that men’s religious attendance is particularly beneficial to their relationships, perhaps in part because churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples are some of the few institutions in American life that devote sustained attention to encouraging men to invest in their families,” said the study.
