I have a 2000 camry that uses about 35litres to cover a distance of about 160 miles.considering the traffic situation of Lagos roads, can this car be said to be heavy on fuel consumption?

your response sounds like it can be better.can servicing with a higher grade of oil make the consumption better? I use the 20 w50 grade oil.I just love to keep m cars in top shape.

engine temp should hover around 90-96degrees, O2 sensors should be functional, air filters clean. Tyres with the right pressures.

you may be able to get better mpg if you do a proper tune up as well as use a lower weight engine oil.
start by getting brand new OEM spark plugs, replacing bad plug wires, replacing or cleaning air filter. making sure brakes are not binding. setting your alignment properly. inflating tires properly. driving less aggressively.
