CELEBRATING THE GREATER LOVE

Q: Can you tell me why the world choose to celebrate love (also called 'special love') on a single day i.e Feb. 14?

1 John 3:1 (NET) - (See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called God's children - and indeed we are! For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know him.

God's love for relationship and in a bid to further showcase His might decided to form man. In the original plan, man was to be an extension of the divine rulership and heavenly kingdom practices. But in order not to be dictatorial, God then gave man charge to dominate and flourish the earth, nonetheless man would still have to reverence his Maker. Sadly, this didn't go down well on the long run as man glorified himself and neglected his Creator which in-turn forced him to be thrown out, forbidden and cursed!

Cont'd...
However, God had compassion on His creation by creating a redemptive plan. It can be said that God is like a father who slaps his child with the right arm but pulls him back comfortingly with the left arm. To achieve this aim therefore, a sacrificial lamb was put forward; not just any kind but His most precious jewel, the only heir to His throne and His only begotten Son - Jesus! This was to recall man from eternal damnation on the assuring promise that he'd gain life after surrendering his carnal self to His Son. And those who sincerely abide in Jesus and hearken unto His Words would not gain eternal life alone but also be called sons of God, for you're now joint-heirs with Christ. Hallelujah

But really, why is God so concerned with man? Who is man if not but mere sand which the wind tosses here and there? Can man's wisdom be compared to God's? Or can man's inventions ever meet God's many wonders? If man chooses to live by his flesh, why then should God bother Himself over him? (Psalm 8:4)

Now hear this...
There exists two worlds: heaven and earth. Earth's beauty and inherent substances is nothing compared to Heaven's splendour. Man was formed from the dust of the ground and back there shall he return. Yet God doesn't want that to happen hence His intention is for man to live with Him forever. But man's folly would not allow him realize this Truth. So in order to demonstrate His power, sincerity and seriousness, Jesus came forth. Howbeit, only those who believe and accept Him would be reunited with the Creator. But initially, nobody begged God for this huge favour. Like seriously, who did? So in the real sense, God just looked down and pitied our ignorance and impending destruction, then He thought, "I can't let this happen to everyone, let me devise a means to recall these people back to Me". Now therein lies the greatest love of all! For God first called you without you asking, and He freely gave Himself to you with the hope that you'd accept Him, then the pathway to eternal life would be yours. And all you ever needed to do was: believe and accept. What manner of love is this! (John 3:16)

From the above explanation, I bet there's no such love amongst humans. Who would want to kill himself for the good of all? Who else has the power to guarantee eternal life beside God? Who else gives wholeheartedly with no hidden agenda except God? So you see it's a privilege to be called God's child, for you're now in Him and He in you. That didn't come on a platter of gold; indeed sweats and blood went in exchange for your sake! Yet the world says you should celebrate yourselves and share mutual love but they forget no love is greater than the Father's love! For He redeemed you willingly from the shackles of sins/death and called you His child at no cost to you! But only when you believe.

It is complete disobedience and shortsightedness to think that we can ever grow tired of celebrating this Father's love. No single day is ever enough. We owe Him that honour all the days of our life on earth and throughout our glorious eternal reign. But of a Truth I tell you, this kind of love is not understood by the world hence they would rather choose to merry amongst themselves. Because they're yet to gain reconnection to the Source of Life, their Maker which means their end is near. So likewise, they'd mock you and make you want to throw away your gift but be still for you're not of this world. (1 John 3:1)

Wouldn't it be a disaster as God's child to be controlled or manipulated by the desires of the flesh? Naturally, every thought originates from man's thinking faculty but the moment you cross over to the supernatural realm via Jesus, you're no longer earth-bound but His Spirit now rules in you and through you. Thus it's expected that everything you think, say or do would symbolize His Kingship over your carnal self. But where most people get it wrong is when they try to think for God rather than fully obliging His voice! And here's what God clearly said about such:

Romans 8:12-14 (NET) - 12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh 13 (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

Man lives in carnality. And that's my answer to the question above! Run from it!

That said, what's next is to show forth your love. There shouldn't be a special day to do this because the life you now live is not yours after all! First, you reverence God regularly. Second, you let the world (family, friends, enemies, frenemies, others) experience God's love through you. Third, you repeat the steps. Really simple, isn't it?

Paribus ceteris

God loves you...
