Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and his Deputy, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (retd), were, yesterday, sworn in for a second term in office. The state Chief Judge, Justice Kate Abiri, administered the oaths of office at the occasion held at the Samson Siasia Stadium. The event witnessed a mammoth attendance including the National Working Committee members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by its acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; Governor Nyessom Wike of Rivers State; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State; Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State amd Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State; Governor Hassan of Gombe State; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State former Governor of Anambra State; Peter Obi and PDP members of the state House of Assembly. Others included, Chairman Bayelsa Council of Traditional Rulers and first military administrator of old Rivers State, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, the Amayanabo of Twon Brass; Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senator Foster Ogola, former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, Senator J. Brambaifa, Senator Emmanuel Diffa and former military governor of Rivers State, Gen Zamani Lekwot. In his inaugural address, Dickson, who attributed his victory to God and the people of the state, promised to consolidate on the gains of the last four years and assured Bayelsans of an all-inclusive government where there will be no discrimination, but equity, justice and fairness. He said: “First and foremost, we thank God Almighty for making today’s historic event possible. Today’s event coming at the end of all the political trials and tribulations I have had to manage in the last four years from within and without, manifesting in different shapes and forms, is a testimony of God’s faithfulness and mercies and shows also that power comes from God and God alone.”
