This question has been ringing in my mind for some time and I will like to hear peoples view on it. Is it proper for couples to have sexual intercourse during fasting? I am not talking of unmarried people cause theirs is a write-off.

You can! If you are doing the marathon fasting you cannot have sex. But if you are doing the one that you break at 3pm or 6pm you can as long as you have broken the fast. 1cor7:5 then continue your fast the nxt day
