Arsenal  has a debt of 400 million pounds!!! all mostly from building the Emirates stadium, but they haven't had any problems repaying there debt so far. When they demolished Highbury, they built apartments on it  but unfortunately, they haven't been able to recoup there investments on it.

define "serious"

yes Arsenal incurred debt cos of the emirates stadium(as all clubs do when they build new grounds, except if it's gift wrapped for them like man city's stadium), but there's a payment plan, and the club is keeping to the plan.
so please don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Is this news to you? Well it probably is.

The Emirates Stadium was financed largely on debt and it was a decision to do such that prompted the club to develop a prudent financial plan in line with the club's history and legacy.

However unlike other clubs the debt is not associated with operational expenditure but is tied to a fixed asset i.e The Emirates Stadium.

One good thing however is the fact that the loan practically pays off its self. The gate reciepts just about equal the annual loan repayments of 24million pounds.

As such a viable business model will be to develop the best young talent in the world and reinforce in areas (as in the case of Arshavin and Vermaelen) where established players would make a difference to the strength of the squad.

The clubs policy of spending within incomes generated by the club hence a prudent approach to wages, purchases and expenditure.

The reason i am posting this is that i just want people to be aware of the financial situations of your teams so that they don't end up like Leeds United, Parma or even Lazio. Most Nigerian fans tend to think that there teams have an endless reserve of cash. They don't know where there money is coming from, infact, most don't even care (or want to know at all). They just wan to see there teams win the EPL. They never ask what the consequences would be if they can't get there finances in order. Don't worry, when these teams end up in Division 2 then you people might want to wake up.
