President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered complete purge of the Budget Office due to the discrepancies and padding of the 2016 budget, which had led to some serious embarrassment.
It was gathered that President handed down the directive to bring in fresh people who will be trained and told in clear terms the change policy of his government and will be disciplined if found wanting.
It will be recalled that Buhari had on Monday sacked Yahaya Gusau as the Director-General of the Budget Office and approved the appointment of Tijjani Mohammed Abdullahi as his replacement.
A top government official who pleaded anonymity told Punch that the President was not yet done with the issue. He said Buhari had been properly briefed of the activities of government officials in the Budget Office who were described as “budget mafia” and accused of sabotaging the budget.
The “budget mafia”, we gathered, have links with Permanent secretaries and DGs and MDs of government agencies who send them figures to secretly include inside the budget and once such money are approved and released, they all share the Billions for their personal enjoyment.
The source said, “ The President is really angry over the discrepancies discovered in the 2016 budget. It has been confirmed that it was a clear case of sabotage."
President Buhari has given a directive that henceforth anyone found in such acts will be sent to jail.

Y is he gerrin angry? When he is always away on 1 foreign trip or another, anything is allowed to happen. When the cat is away, the mouse takes over. We thought cluelessness is only as a result of ogogoro but this is even worse.

I'd be more interested if those responsible for the budget fiasco were relieved of their duties AND PROSECUTED. Including, and most especially the civil servants involved.

The budget office has failed in their prmiray responsibility to have a proper scrutiny of the budget before presentation. The leader though must take the blame but yet, we can't allow these lazy fellows to continue. If we couldn't repeat Goodluck Jonathan for his failure, we won't repeat the budget office officials and neither are we going to repeat PMB if he also fails after 4years of thorough observation. "padding" will only take place under the authorization of your saintly ministers. I believe they were only trying to get up to the ridiculous 6 trillion naira you pegged for the budget without the input of a cabinet, the amount had to add up by force hence the padding

He should forget all these smoke screen sacking at the budget office, we are not fooled. The only ones likely to be fooled are of course his zombies. Bigger heads should have been rolling, not just at the budget office. The criminals he has as ministers can't say they don't know something about the inflated numbers flying and duplicating their selves shamelessly in the scam budget of change.
