It is not too difficult coming out of the economic woods we find ourselves today. We as a people and government needs to do a little more weight shedding and economic reversal policies amongst which would be:

1. Zero taxation on small and medium scale industries to boost their growth for growth for next 5 years. Several incentives like seedlings, marketing and other assistance to be dished out steadily.

2. 50% ban of all foreign goods and massive inputs into production of local substitutes. These local substitutes should then be researched to improve in quality to meet banned products standards. We shouldn't try to get it at first trial. Chinese fridges life span was an average of 3 months but the government still didn't allow for importation of fridges till they got it right.

3. A timeline to be placed on remaining unbanned 50% of the products not initially banned. Nigerians should be given official support in terms of regulations, funds, economic blueprints (piracy and duplication) to get these products manufactured here. China did it and the government backed every challenge by courts on patents rights around the world, that is why you have cheaper DVDs, phones. Remember the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy wahala? Local patents should then be strictly enforced and protected.

4. Electricity and lands should be given free to would-be manufacturers as motivation. India still uses this model.

5. 30% for private and 50% for small and medium scale industries in solar system acquisition. This done would free energy which is the major stimulant for development.

6. Economic crimes (especially to customers outside Nigeria) should be equated with those of treason. This is because trust is the highest value you will exhibit to your would-be client and any deviation would adversely affect goodwill. We carry out online purchases without knowing the shops in China, imagine if you are duped once, I would you trade next time? China views 419-like crimes against non-Chinese as state crimes because if you loose credibility it would not likely return.
7. Finally our government should make effort to restrict made in China goods. They are cheap and therefore would never allow any new competition to grow. The secret is they would not mind selling at 100% loss now, but they have a target to kill your industries and later double their profit in future.

All these done would move our indexes higher certainly. Call it mad theory, I but it's our only options.
