Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has denied the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the state government is planning to replace doctors who have abandoned their duty posts with native doctors. The PDP, Osun State chapter had alleged that the state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola intends to sack striking doctors and replace them with traditional healers and witch doctors. The party said: “Governor Aregbesola has a rich history of odd actions all in a bid to be unique. If a governor could unilaterally change the education system in Osun from the 6-3-3-4 operating across the country to 4-6-3 by recategorising primary and secondary schools in the state to Elementary, Middle and High Schools, then his plans to replace orthodox medical doctors with native doctors in this modern age cannot be dismissed with a wave of hand.” Reacting to the allegation, the governor expressed pity for what he called the irredeemable abyss that the Peoples Democratic Party has sunk into as demonstrated by the lack of substance and hollowness that characterize its criticisms of the Aregbesola administration. In a statement by the Director of Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Semiu Okanlawon the government said in an attempt to play the crucial role of opposition, PDP has exposed itself as a political party peopled with characters, who are suffering from ‘crass ignorance’ and ‘chronic intellectual deficiency.’
