I got into an argument today with a guy. He said Toyota makes a new model every 2 years, that he knows about the 2008 model and the next is 2010. No 2009

Can someone pls enlighten me?

2008/2009 are the same. 2010/2011 little things changed. What your friend meant is that Toyota produces "all new model" every two years.

Not necessarily true.

Cars are produce by model years that means you have 2008 corolla built from around march 2007-feb 2008 and 2009model built from march 2008-feb 2009.

To make thing interesting they do minor refresh/upgrades every model year so the difference between 2008& and 2009 might be front facia, bluetooth radio and lights so there is minor difference every year, but mostly every 4 years they change almost everything which is why you.

Sometimes refresh is not ready to be made in time at factory or canceled last minute because competition made a better car so they have to refresh again eg 2007 camry pencil light, should have been changed by 2002 but it was 2003 then 2007, 2012, 2013.

Nissan pathfinder had 2 bodystyle in 1999 model and 1999 1/2.
