Let’s assume one of your students wrote this as an English class work during one of your classes. How would you feel?
Read the essay below:

I Love Nigeria
As a young man whose quest for adventure knows no bounds, whose interest in a people and their ways is beyond measure, I love a country. It is Nigeria – a place peopled with more than 250 ethnic groups with different ideologies and orientations. Being also a country where unusual things happen, Nigeria must be loved by all and sundry!

How can I not fall in love with a country like Nigeria, a place where corrupt people are held in high esteem while honest and hardworking ones are despised and forgotten? My Nigeria, a sweet country where a man who stole N2.1b is granted bail by the court to have fun with his family while a vulnerable, hungry man who stole N10,000 is made to die by hanging. So, tell me, why would any right thinking person like me not love my country, a great country, Nigeria?

If love were to be the synonym of hate, I would rather wait endlessly until the meaning would be irrelevant. Indeed, I so much love Nigeria, my great country!
