Our client; an Engineering, Fabrication, Project Management and Specialist Equipment Procurement Company requires the services of a Business Development Manager

Minimum Qualifications:
- A first degree in Business Administration or any related numerate discipline.
- At least 8 years Post-NYSC experience
- Prior knowledge of Business Development within the industry is preferred

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Generate and develop sales of up to TBD per annum
- Participate and provide input in the articulation and development of the Business Development strategy.
- Champion the articulation and development of plans, programs and strategies to facilitate the realization of the Business Development, and organization-wide strategies.
- Demonstrate ownership and communicate the department’s strategic direction and objectives to all staff ensuring mutual understanding of roles, responsibilities and accountability.
- Develop long and short-term business goals, objectives and targets as part of the business development department’s planning and budgeting process.
- Ensure the business goals, objectives and targets are met on a timely basis.
- Conduct extensive market research and intelligence gathering on customers and competitors.
- Develop marketable business ideas that cut across all client segments and suits market demands.
- Source for clients and generate leads for sales or partnerships.
- Prepare bids and proposals to market products to potential or current clients/partners and carry out follow-up sales activities.
- Prepare reports of activities/projects
- Assist to identify and respond to environmental factors impacting the long term strategic direction of the business
- Develop high quality, cost effective & integrated marketing, sales and operational improvement initiatives
- Conduct economic, commercial, technical, financial reviews for implementing /driving business initiatives.
- Investigate the economic conditions surrounding the business activity such as industry trends and competition.
- Attend workshops, trade shows, seminars anther networking events to keep up-to-date on changes in the industry and to meet business people.
- Will be responsible for bringing in a minimum amount of business per quarter based on a detailed plan.
- Develop marketing materials like brochures and presentations
- Work with colleagues in the preparation of quotations and responding to RFQs.
- Have a thorough and in-depth understanding of company’s products and services.
- Responsible for developing opportunities in targeted industry sectors, such as oil & gas.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Managing Director

Competency and Skills Requirements:
Industry Knowledge
- Must have a good knowledge of the oil and gas industry procurement process. Knowledge of other industries, in addition, is a plus.
- An understanding of basic engineering processes will be an advantage

- Ability to transmit information effectively i.e. in clear, unambiguous terms to employees, management and other stakeholders to facilitate at all times the achievement of the goals and objectives of the organisation
- Ability to understand technical information and relay it in a manner that is clearly understood by others.
- Ability to write reports in clear terms using a mixture of words, charts, graphs, etc.

- Ability to look beyond the obvious in problem-solving

- Ability to interact effectively with people - staff, regulatory agencies and customers alike
- Ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with customers.

- Must be discernibly honest and of consistent upright character
- Must be ethical i.e. must follow the ideals and responsibilities of the industry as set out in the code of ethics guiding operations and operators in the industry.
Others
- Good appreciation and working knowledge of Microsoft office tools
- Must be dedicated, responsible and able to work under pressure.
