INTRODUCTION: FRUITS AND VEGETABLES Are good, especially lots of them. Scientists have always said that man's cells are exposed to attack by substances found in his environment. These substances come from smoke, polluted air, food, pesticides and even from other frequent and commonly used cosmetics. These harmful substances are called free radicals which attack the cell, destroy or alter it's structure/ content. However, nutritional substances found in fruits and vegetables called anti-oxidants, serve as protective mechanism against free radicals. Fresh fruits and vegetable juices have been shown to possess remarkable health-promoting properties and have been used for centuries by Natural Medicine practitioners to help treat a range of ailments. Freshly squeezed juices contain natural occurring vitamins, minerals and enzymes which are far better than synthetic tablets. The nutrients are easily absolved into the blood stream and within ten minutes they are nourishing your body cells. Fruits and vegetables help fortify the body against chronic diseases such as cancer and heart diseases, boost the immune system, fight osteoporosis, lower your risk of diabetes and slow down brain ageing. Eating fruits and vegetables with a lot of vitamin C will help keep wrinkles at bay. When a woman feeds her baby with plenty of soft drinks, sugar, ice- creams, biscuits, chocolate and other refined food, she is endangering the life of her baby. To stay healthy, fruits and vegetables must be the fundamental part of our food. Embrace the habit of eating at least 3 fruits daily and experience a difference in the outcome of your health. The habit of eating 2 or 3 types of fresh vegetables should be embraced as well. It is appropriate to ensure that fruits are properly washed before consumption, while vegetables are to be washed neatly before they are chopped, otherwise thier nutritional values would be washed away in water. You will hardly walk into the city of sickness if you consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. Fruits and vegetables can truly prolong life.
