A Nigerian man has been detained by police after a debate on which is the better footballer turned violent .

A row is reported to have broken out between two Nigerian friends at a birthday party in Mumbai, India.

Local policeman Kiran Kabadi said that the two men had entered into a row in the Indian village of Nalasopara.

Obinna Michael Durumchukwa, 34, is understood to have thrown a glass at friend, Nwabu Chukwuma, after a debate over the quality of the two players turned violent.

The missile missed Chukwuma, who then picked up a shard of broken glass, using it to cut his friend's throat.
