The incumbent Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly who is the first female Speaker of the State, Hon. Jumoke Akindele and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Fatai Olotu have been impeached by 18 lawmakers of the 26 members. The 2 lawmakers were impeached earlier tonight. Hon. Iroju Ogundeji and Hon. Ayo Arowole have been elected as new speaker and deputy speaker respectively. Hon. Jumoke Akindele,who represents Okitipupa Constituency II on the platform of PDP, was elected Speaker in 2014 following a majority vote shortly after the death of then-Speaker, Hon. Samuel Adesina.
