Ge. 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Ge. 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Ge. 1:4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. If the description in Ge. 1:2 is the description of the circumstances of a human being or a city or a nation, that human being or city or nation in a horrible situation. The surprising thing is that the Spirit of God is right there in the whole chaos and yet does not change anything. In Ge. 1:3, God spoke His Word into the situation, where the Holy Spirit is, and everything became so beautiful. The word of God transformed the hellish situation into heavenly situation. 2 Likes |

Ps. 147:19 He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel. Ps. 147:20 He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD. God gave His word to ancient Israel. But the experience of Israelites through the ages has not been heaven on earth. Why has the word of God been largely ineffective in the hand of Israelites? |

2Co. 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant — not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. The Israelites had the word of God, but they were not very aware of the Spirit. So, they only had the letters of the word. It is the Spirit that gives life and power to the word of God. The Spirit of God was over the nation of Israel, but the Israelites were largely not very aware of the Spirit. Therefore, the word of God they had brought to them more of judgments than blessings. Jn. 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. The light that would have transformed the condition of Israelites from hellish to heavenly, was always shining upon them, but they could not comprehend it. |

Ro. 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, Ro. 8:2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Ro. 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, [Or in the flesh] Ro. 8:4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. The word of God that Israel had was weakened by the sinful nature; Satan's grip upon the inner being of mankind, which he achieved through Adam and Eve. God sent another Adam, Jesus Christ, to offer himself as a sacrifice of atonement for the first Adam's sin of turning away from God. Because of Jesus' sacrifice of atonement, it became possible for a human being to receive the Spirit of God in the inner being. When a human being receives the Spirit, the Spirit completely displaces Satan from the inner being. Where the Spirit of God is present, the word of God becomes the law of the Spirit. The word dictates what the Spirit can do. The word of God controls the Spirit. In Ge. 1:2, the Spirit was present, but the word of God was not present to control the Spirit, and so the Spirit did nothing. In Ge. 1:3, the Spirit was present and God sent His word. The Spirit acted in accordance with the word. And everything became good. 1 Like 1 Share |
