Private schools in Ekiti State on Monday began a three-day strike to protest against the imposition of N1,000 development levy per term on their pupils by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The State Government had announced N1, 000 per term as education development levy for public secondary school pupils while those in primary schools were to pay N500.

Government, however, in a circular from the Ministry of Education, extended the development levy to private schools........

Shame on Fayose for trying to kill access to private primary education in Ekiti. The state government provides absolutely nothing for the development of private schools in the state, why then is he asking each pupil to pay the evil levy? How can parents who pay exorbitant school fees be made to pay a government imposed development levy again?

It's high time opinion leaders in Ekiti state calls the governor to order before he destroys the education sector. Reasonable leaders in the state needs to stand up to Fayose's buffoonery before he goes out of control. Education of Ekiti choldren should not be an avenue for greedy politicians to make money.
