What a sad end for a very brilliant & talented footballer. I Was fortunate to have met him as a student in Hope Waddell Training Institution, Calabar. The likes of John Ene, 'bullet', 'Santa', Ekpenyong Eyo, Akpaka Inwang etc. made the HOWAD football team famous & solid in the 80s. He was very skillful & it was a priviledge watching him play in Calabar. May his soul rest in peace.

John Okon Ene was a highly skillful and brilliant Mildfielder. I watched him severally played along with Finidi George, Imama Amakpakabo and Celestine Nzekwer in their days with Calabar Rovers.
Infact, John Okon was the player that made Finidi shine and got called up to super Eagles then.
He also played in the star Studded Chile 87 Flying Eagles. He later played in Super Eagles shortly after Friday Ekpo exit.
So to hear his death.
