The Federal Government has moved to stop cattle from roaming across the country, within the next 18 to 24 months.
Chief Audu Ogbeh, the minister of agriculture and rural development, announced the plans at the 19th Regional Implementation Forum for International Fund for Agricultural Development-supported projects in West and Central Africa in Abuja on Tuesday.

Ogbeh represented President Buhari at the occasion.

According to him, “This is why our government has decided that grasslands in large portions around the country will be created and improved grass seeds will be brought in from other countries, which have gone ahead of us to create the desired grass that will make it unnecessary for the herdsmen to roam about.

So in the in next 18 to 24 months, we assure you that no cattle will roam about in this country.

“We need young women and men who can invest in cattle rearing and milk production as this must not be left only to the Fulani herdsmen. Feeding cattle has been an issue, which we need to address.
“We have given support to rice, wheat and cassava farmers; also to cocoa producers.”

See if u want every state to allocate a large area of land for grazing then all states too
Should build markets in all LGA for igbos too

See this fulani people need to evolve or die naturally. Just show igbos how profitable farming is and our food security in this country would be granteed

In essence, the fulani's should continue killing till 18 to 24 months before something meaningful could be done. How are these leaders reasoning self? We need result now and not 2 years to come. Funniest part is that the minister of Agriculture is from Benue state where the fulani's are doing as they like

To me the solution sounds good but there should be education on the need for them to be sedentary and construct ranches. That would even help curb spread of most cattle diseases.

If they are creating grazing zones in state then i see a repetition of north central palaver southerners should watch dis,the govenment is going to be using our money to import, grow and assist the fulanis in cattle rearing, high time government resusitate ajaokuta steel complex, subsidizes gas and power for industrialization of east and west too.
