Hi programmers on nairaland.I am Onimisi and i want to learn programming like c++,java,visual basic e.t.c. But my problem is dat i dnt knw hw 2 start.somebody should help with a link or a tutor.i knw HTML,CSS,XHTML. u'll need more than one book to learn 1 programming language from . many books balance ur perspectives. personally, i find the deitel book to be excessively verbose and this is not un-deliberate. a 1500 pg book on programming ( u can use it for pumping ur biceps in the morning) is more convincing than a 400 or 300 pg manual which is what u need. Try this book by herbet schildt - Java 2 the complete reference . it blows the deitels to bits. [at last price - cms bookshp it was 12k ]. |

I think, the deitel books are very discouraging. i read it 4 ages. they introduce you to jagons in chapter 1 and jump directly into OOP without a fundamental kwowledge of programming itself. Be careful when using it or it would drain the programer in you. I felt the pain. |
