PMB: God sent(Saint) or devil's perfume?
(OPINION POLL)

By Emmy Chi Bandoh

The opinion of Nigerians differ till date when it burdens on the performance of PMB since taking office from GEJ. While their supporters are often divided across geographic, religious, political, and educational lines, can anyone sincerely point out facts that supports what is said of the president?
It's been obvious where the two major political parties stand alongside their supporters as regards the issue, with some insisting he has done marvelously well, while the others express otherwise.
In my opinion, his performance should not be judged yet, however, there is a great need to impress the masses, especially those who sacrificed so much to propagate him on social media and subsequently protect his mandate during election, the youths.
Weighing both the opinions of APC and its main opposition PDP, it is okay to say both parties have gotten used to shouting and painting each other black. Their case is that of two wolves barking woof and pointing at each other or a scenario of kettle calling pot black.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose recently described the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration so far as that of “deceitful change,” lamenting that the President was destroying the image of Nigeria and its people for cheap international recognition. While Former President Olusegun Obasanjo speaking to Premium Times recently stated that he is “reasonably satisfied” with the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari since his coming into office on May 29, 2015.
Some school of thought believe we cannot rightly measure a tenure of four years based on the output of less than a year, since it is possible that some results of his policies and action may truly begin to reproduce fruits two, three or four years into his administration. I agree to an extent. But I also agree that the signs from the beginning should touch the lives of the poor tomato seller in Lagos, the Fisherman in Delta, or that civil servant in Jos.
Let us look at this critically, if the whole Nigeria gives you the authority to rate President Muhammadu Buhari's eight or nine months reign, what will your rating be? Will it be good? Spectacular? Great or very poor? Has he impressed or disappointed you?
GEJ lost 2015 presidential election because somewhere along the line he lost touch with the everyday people, with those who did not have shoes like him. APC was able to exploit that and it reaped wonderfully during the elections. Now it is their turn to turn things around, for good. If the lives of the poor masses are not touched positively, they should hide in shame because it only confirms that they are all the same.
Many Nigerians believe President Mohammadu Buhari is a God sent, will he disappoint them? Others are hellbent on the idea that he is not a saint but rather the devil's perfume or dictator, will they be proven correct? Is PMB a Godsent leader or is he just another politician ripping us off? One thing is certain, we will find out at the end.
2019 is just around the corner. What is your own opinion?
