San Francisco and Sacramento are cool places too, though I've never been there. Ogugua lives in Sacramento, maybe she could be of more help there. Driving from SD to Vegas may take close to 9 hrs (with 2 stop overs for resting)

CFCfan: I'll recommend San Diego city. Mehn, that area is beautiful! It ain't called d most beautiful city in America for nothing. The downtown area has some quality Italian/Asian restaurants. The beach is also top notch. There is also the San Diego zoo.
Right now, it's not possible to reach Vegas from Cali, but there are plans for a high-speed rail connecting Bakersfield (Cali) to Vegas.

Ok are you in San Diego? I'm looking at this summer but i really wanna go to Vegas as well but not if i'll be driving 6 hours there. What do you think of San Francisco and Sacramento?
