TALENT, KNOWLEDGE AND HARDWORK
Talent can be said to be an UNUSUAL NATURAL ABILITY to do something well. Football fans will recognize names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jnr., Toure Yaya, Luiz Suarez, Gareth Bale etc as some of the most “talented” footballers of our day. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs and Martin Luther King Jnr. must have been “talented” to have achieved so much in their lifetimes.
A lot of us see most successful people as “talented”, but I tell you that most (if not all) are not at least as talented as we think they are; they could have some “talents” but the truth is the that the results they've achieved is not a function of their talents, it is a function of HARD WORK. Anyone can do almost anything provided he puts his mind to it. You may not necessarily be the “best” in it, but you surely can definitely do anything you want to, provided you put your mind to it.
ALMOST EVERYTHING IS LEARNABLE! This means that you don’t need to be talented to be a programmer, architect, engineer, artiste, politician, businessman etc all you need is KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND HARD WORK. One could have the natural ability to do some things, but those abilities would never be useful if HARD WORK is never applied; even gold needs to be refined you Know?
I can tell you that more than 90% of Nigerian Musicians has no music talent whatsoever, but they are selling all over the world, how come? They had interest in music, they went after it, acquired the skills and knowledge, coupled with persistence and hard work, and today they are superstars. You hear their songs and you just love it. While some people don’t necessarily need to learn music because they naturally can make music, if they do not work hard to keep updated, their so called talent may not help them succeed as one who takes his time to acquire knowledge and skills in his area of interest.
You need to understand that knowledge, skills, persistence and hard work are more important than talent. One that has knowledge and skills coupled with persistence and hard work would surely outperform one that relies only on talent to save him; talent needs hard work and persistence to get refined.
Talent is not just over-rated; it is also misunderstood, understanding it would make things better and easier for you.
Do have a nice day!
