The alleged theft of a phone belonging to a famous shaikh has been refuted.

Sheikh Yakubu Musa Katsina, the Chairman of the conference organising committee and among the notable leaders of the Jama'atu Izalatil Bid'a Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), and also one of the closest people to the Executive Secretary of The Muslim World League, Sheikh, Dr. Abdallah Abdulmuhsin al-Turki, has refuted the alleged theft.

Sheikh Yakubu, while speaking to Enews described the story as unfounded and unfair, and further noted that as the chairman of the conference, he was in the best position to know if such a thing occures.

The Sheikh's phone was alledged to have been stolen while he was in the National Mosque for Friday Prayer.

Also, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, the National Chairman of JIBWIS, while refuting the story, noted that it was a lie and the Sheikh didn't notify him of that development in his capacity as the National Chairman of JIBWIS. He said, up to this moment the Executive Secretary is fine and his phone is intact.

Also, in another development, one of the visible conference organisers in person of Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Rijiyar Lemo, refuted the story. He noted that it was a member of al-Turki's entourage by the name Sheikh Shakir that misplaced his phone, and not Dr. al-Turki, as reported. He further noted that the phone was misplaced, not stolen as the person couldn't remember where he kept it.

Dr. Muhsin al-Turki visited Nigeria for the World Islamic Conference which kicked off in Abuja, Nigeria's capital. The event was declared open by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dr. Ibrahim further expressed his dismay and disappointment on how reputable media outlets could carry such a news without seeking clarification from officials of the conference.

yesterday, a newspaper reported that a phone was stolen, they didnt ask for any confirmation, considering the tight security and all, they all just started celebrating the bad news, but today that a sheik has come all out to debunk it... they are SHAMELESSLY shouting APC lies....

Exactly my thoughts, i was wondering what Apc had to do with the theft, but as you pointed out better this way than turning it into religious or tribal thing.
