FOOTBALLS TACTICAL EVOLUTION
We were all left gaping for breathe last season at Etihad stadium, when Branislav Ivanovics goal secured all three points for Chelsea. But what many failed to see was the avalanche of tactics and technical know how that was displayed by the visitors. Some analyst couldnt find the appropriate word to describe that very magnificent display by Chelsea, those that managed to find termed it Mous tactical master stroke
Top coaches in the game knows about tactics and game plan in their entirely. Tactics goes beyond knowing the Achilles need of your opponent it includes acknowledging the strength of both your opponent and your term. These strengths vary from coaches to coaches.
Football has evolved; it has grown to be multidimensional. Players that intend to be in the business for long must also evolve or remain at disadvantage. This might just be the reason why some players hitherto used to be the crops of their teams are now bit part players.
Eden Hazard was preferred to Kevin De Bruney by José Mourihno because of his trickery. The difference between top and small teams today is the ability to be unpredictable (unpredictability).
Looking at the current Arsenal team, one is left perplexed, why do they find it so difficult getting results against big teams? The answer is simple; the entire out field players are one dimensional; there is no difference between when Ozil, Wilshere, Cazorla or Rosicky is on the pitch.
There is the need to have players with entirely different abilities in your team. What a certain John Obi Mikel brings to a Chelsea is different from what Nemanja Matic brings. There is a difference between a Carricked and a Fellained Manchester united and unofficial.
During the cast days of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester united, he identified the need for physicality and rascality in some certain matches when he pushed Phil Jones up field.
Some coaches has even gone beyond recognizing players tactical ability, temperament plays important roles in winning and loosing games nowadays. Diego Costa is the player he is today not just because he is good at scoring goals but because the coaches (Diego Someone and Jose Mourihno) under whose tutelages he has flourished loves his style of play- the combative mode of play. At Atletico Madrid, he was always getting the better of real Madrid defenders because with this strength, his ability to provoke defenders. He creates scene off the ball. Jose Mourihno (in whose image Costa is molded) saw this ability in him during the second leg of the UEFA champions league semi-final match between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge. The men from Vicente De Calderon came out on top not because they played better than the host but because instead of allowing the game to flow, Costa was busy provoking and distracting Chelseas fulcrum-John Jerry.
This season at Chelsea, he has continued to make use of this tool.
His aim on the field of play is not always to score goals, sometimes it is to disrupt your style of play, to break the flow of your game (Martin Skertel can attest to this).
