Cheapest Call Rates / Tariff Plans in Nigeria 2015 across all Networks

Getting the best value for your money is always good, but you can’t do that if you don’t have the right information. I previously analysed all call tariffs by major telecoms in Nigeria (MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat) here, today I bring you an update based on recent tariff plans by this companies to help you make a better choice.

A lot has changed since the last post was made, see update on latest and cheapest call plans across all networks in Nigeria below:

MTN
MTN SmoothTalk Plus is still the cheapest prepaid tariff plan on MTN Network. This plan offers you flat rate of 15 kobo/second for calls ACROSS ALL local Networks after the first minute of the day at 40 kobo per second.
Also customers get Free 10MB weekly on N100 recharge, FREE Happy Hour calls to MTN numbers from 00.30am to 04:30 every day (including weekends) as long as you have minimum balance of ₦100 in your account at 00:30. SMS rate is N4.
Simply dial *401# or send 401 to 131 and migrate to MTN SmoothTalk plus.

MTN TruTalk is another plan for MTN suscribers that allows you to call registered friends and family for 11 kobo/second (you can register both MTN and non MTN numbers). However, calls outside the 11 numbers is charged at 20 kobo/sec for MTN2MTN calls and 26k/sec for calls to other networks. To Migrate to MTN TruTalk, dial *400# or send 400 to 131.
To register a number – *560*1*MSISDN#
To delete a number – *560*2*MSISDN#

AIRTEL
Airtel smartTALK is the cheapest tariff plan on Airtel Network with call rate of 11k/sec to all networks in Nigeria for a daily access fee of ₦5 charged on your first call of the day. Make international calls at 20k per second to the USA, Canada, China, India and UK Landline.

Simply dial *315# or send YES to 315 to subscribe

GLO
Glo 11k/s prepaid tariff plan offers best and competitive flat rate tariff to all networks with unlimited and unparalleled value most especially for our upwardly mobile customers.

It is an exciting proposition offering the best calling rates of 11k/s to Anyone, anywhere and any network in Nigeria.

Calls to selected international destinations- US, UK (land lines), India, Canada & China is billed @ 20K/s

Dial *100*6*1# to start enjoying this plan.

Daily access fee of ₦5 is charged on the first call of the day and is valid till 11.59pm each day

Glo Bounce is another plan that costs as low as 15k/s flat rate to all Networks; for Campus Zone Rate Onnet-11k/s, Offnet-15K/s and 11k/s to other users on the Glo Bounce Plan. SMS rate is ₦3 per sms. To start enjoying the Bounce benefit, Dial *170*4# now!

ETISALAT
The Cheapest call tariff plan on Etisalat is easylife 4.0 limited edition. Easylife 4.0 limited edition is a voice based prepaid plan that gives you amazing rates to all networks in Nigeria and selected international destinations. Calls are charged at 11 kobo/sec with a daily access fee of ₦5 only which is charged on the first call of the day. Access fee is valid till 11.59pm each day. SMS rate is ₦4

Calls to selected international destinations – US, India, China, and UK – landlines is 20k/s.

Dial *420*1# to migrate to easylife 4.0 limited edition. migration is free.

Verdict: Etisalat offers the best and cheapest call rates (prepaid) in Nigeria at the moment to call both on-net and other networks. Glo and Airtel offers similar package but we choose Etisalat based on additional bonus they offer to users

Our rating/ranking is based on the following in descending order (Weight of rating)
– OFF NET call rates (to other networks) – 4 points
– ON NET call rates – 2.5 points
– SMS rate – 1.5 points
– International call rates – 1 point
– Additional Bonus (freebies, bonuses) 1 point

Note: We didn’t add plans that uses varying rates based on location/zone as we can’t determine the effective cost.

MTN are scarmers. i do not recharge my mtn line anylonger. i just use it to recieve calls.

Are you aware that night calls isn't working any more

Nice write up OP. Am currently enjoying the AIRTEL smartTALK, I no longer recharge my MTN line. Will soon switch to Glo very soon. Guys suppose support our home base network now.
